First United Methodist Church presents…

Get acquainted with all of the great faith and service opportunities at FUMC Pasadena while enjoying terrific food, live music, tours of the historic church building, and so much more at this community event, Saturday, May 25!

Five food trucks will be located in the back parking lot, with activities taking place throughout the building. Festivities start at 5:00pm!

Fusion Fridays at Pacific Asia Museum

Pacific Asia Museum’s fourth season of the popular Fusion Friday series is back! Enjoy a vibrant mix of art in the galleries, interactive experiences and live performances, all within the museum’s iconic building.

Each evening features special performances and activities and also include DJs spinning in the courtyard, a cash bar, and L.A.’s best food trucks in the parking lot. Angel City Brewery will be pouring at the bar.

This Friday, May 17, will feature a stunning Indonesian shadow puppet performance plus peeks behind the scenes, live gamelan music, and DJ Arshia’s special Bollywood dance mix! Cocktail or Asian attire is encouraged for this indoor and outdoor event!

Poet Gerda Govine Ituarte at Aahoo Art Gallery

Aahoo Art Gallery has invited Pasadena-based poet Gerda Govine Ituarte to read and discuss her book Oh, Where is My Candle Hat? on Wednesday, May15, 2013 from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Candle Hat is a “one of a kind” handmade limited edition poetry art book with a CD in English and Spanish including drawings by Luis Ituarte. The book will be available at this event. Gerda will also be previewing selected poems from her upcoming book that will debut Fall 2013.

Habitat for Humanity Benefit

The University Club of Pasadena is hosting a benefit for the San Gabriel Valley chapter of Habitat for Humanity this Sunday, May 19th! Enjoy an evening of food and drink while helping a worthwhile organization!

Bike Week Pasadena

The 7th Annual Bike Week Pasadena rolls through May 13th-18th, 2013. C.I.C.L.E., an L.A. based bike advocacy non-profit, and the City of Pasadena present a week-long showcase for most skill levels and age groups to promote bicycling as a safe and sustainable mode of transportation.

All Bike Week Pasadena activities are free and open to the public. This year’s highlights include:

  • A Taste of Pasadena Restaurant Ride
  • Ladies Night
  • Bike To Work Pit Stop
  • Bike Home From Work Shift Party
  • Bike-In Movie Night
  • Kids Costume Bike Parade with the Mayor

This year the Playhouse District Association will participate in A Taste of Pasadena Ride on Monday, May 13, 6:30pm-9:30pm.

Treat your taste buds to a sampling of Pasadena’s finest dishes! Pedal along, build up your appetite and explore Pasadena’s tastiest bites! We’ll cruise through the Pasadena Playhouse restaurants.

Location: Meet at Memorial Park Pasadena (Raymond Ave & Holly St.)

What to Bring: Your bicycle, in good running order, and plenty of night lights. All participants should be able to ride a bike safely with the ability to brake, change gears, and balance while stopping and starting. All participants under 18 must wear a helmet and be escorted by a parent or guardian. Children under age 8 should be on a tag-a-long, bike trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device to participate in the ride.

Cirque At The Playhouse

The Pasadena Playhouse is debuting a two-week summer program for youth, teens and adults interested in pursuing a career in the circus arts.

CIRQUE AT THE PLAYHOUSE is dedicated to training and nurturing a local and global community of artists of all ages committed to excellence in the study of circus arts, clowning, mask play, aerial arts and all non-fourth-wall styles of theatre. This program runs from July 15-28, 2013 with a showcase and festival finale planned for August 17, 2013. Steve Haves, who has worked as a Comic Act Designer for Cirque du Soleil since 2006, will serve as Program Director and co-producer for CIRQUE AT THE PLAYHOUSE summer program.

Galerie Gabrie Presents Artist Charles Muench

The Galerie Gabrie is proud to present “Conversations With Nature”, an exhilarating and awe-inspiring exhibit by artist Charles Muench. A special Artist Reception will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5:00pm-8:00pm with Mr. Muench in attendance. The exhibit is open now and continues through June 29, 2013. Mother’s Day 2013 at the University Club of Pasadena

Give Mom a special and memorable day at the University Club of Pasadena! The Club is hosting an extraordinary Mother’s Day Brunch this Sunday, May 12, 2013. Enjoy live entertainment featuring phenomenal musician and recording artist David Wilson. David was a tremendous violin soloist for Henry Mancini. Among those he has performed for include: Irving “Swifty” Lazar, Buena Vista Television,  David Foster, Frank Sinatra, George H.W. Bush, Robert DeNiro, Tony Bennett, and Johnny Grant.

Playhouse District Block Party

Join the party! Every Thursday now through October from 6pm-11pm enjoy food trucks, live music, wine tasting and crafting. Formerly known as Thursday Nights on El Molino, the Playhouse District Block Party features wine tasting at Monopole Wine, coffee from Zona Rosa Caffe, crafting at Little Junebugs and a variety of gourmet food truck offerings.
