A celebration crafted to perfection

Pasadena, Calif: The first annual Pasadena Art Weekend will take place October 13-15, 2006, with a colorful palate of events for art lovers to enjoy!  Visitors will have three reasons to applaud when the ever growing ArtNight, immensely popular ArtMarket and newly launched ArtWalk come together for the first time.  Each event will highlight diverse locations throughout Pasadena, including One Colorado, the mid-town Playhouse District and many more! 

On Friday, October 13th, ArtNight will kick off Pasadena Art Weekend when several cultural institutions open their doors free of charge, offering the public a rich sampling of quality art, artifacts and music within the city.  Collaborating venues for this event, with free shuttle service, include Armory Center for the Arts, Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena Conservatory of Music and the Norton Simon Museum of Art, among others.  ArtNight is an ongoing partnership among many cultural institutions and the Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Pasadena offering two events annually.  For more information on ArtNight,call the ArtNight Pasadena Hotline at (626) 744-7887 or log on to www.artnightpasadena.org.

The Pasadena Playhouse District’s ArtWalk will debut on Saturday, October 14th, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Located in the heart of Pasadena, ArtWalk will proudly display hundreds of artists’ works, the area’s culture, and commerce with great food, entertainment and more.  The free outdoor event will be held steps away from many of the city’s renowned museums, galleries, restaurants and theatres, including the Laemmle’s Playhouse movie complex and the famed Pasadena Playhouse.  For more information on ArtWalk, call (626) 744-0340 or visit www.playhousedistrict.org.

The grand finale of Pasadena Art Weekend will be One Colorado’s Design Open ArtMarket on Sunday, October 15th from 10 a.m. –
5 p.m.  Old Pasadena’s most popular fine arts market focuses exclusively on work by students, faculty and alumni from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena City College and Armory Center for the Arts.  The public will enjoy innovative productions by emerging artists, illustrators, ceramicists, and the next generation of environmental and industrial designers experimenting with different media.  All purchases benefit the artists and students directly.  The ArtMarket occurs in the alleys and courtyard of One Colorado.
