Second Saturday Spotlight Talk @ PMCA on Saturday, July 8, 2:00 pm

A PMCA docent leads an engaging and insightful 20–minute discussion about a work of art currently on view in the Main Gallery exhibition –  The Golden Twenties: Portraits and Figure Paintings by Joseph Kleitsch. Note: Spotlight Talks meet near the exhibition title wall. Free with admission.

Fragments of the Past @ Walt Girdner on Saturday, July 8, 6:00 pm

The Walt Girdner Photo Studio and Gallery is proud to showcase their next artist, Juliet Lai with an opening night celebration and reception.  Her argyrotype images bring back remnants of elegant history of days gone by.  Seeking out forgotten locations throughout Europe, Juliet Lai captured and preserved them from the destruction of time through her images.  Free event.

Spanish Boys’ Choir @ PPC on Saturday, July 8, 7:00 pm

Escolania de Montserrat, Spain’s premier boy choir founded in the Catalonia region in the 13th century, will be making its highly anticipated Southern California debut in a free concert at the Pasadena Presbyterian Church. The Pasadena appearance is the final stop of this second U.S. tour.  Tickets to the performance on July 8 are free. DuoFest @ Boston Court on Saturday, July 8, 8:00 pm

Introducing DuoFest! For the first time, Boston Court re-imagines its summer music series as a week-long festival, featuring collaborations from some of LA’s most exciting contemporary performers.  Each evening will feature two or more artists, performing separately and together, showcasing new or rarely performed work.  DuoFest celebrates collaboration in unexpected and adventurous ways, like only Boston Court can.  DuoFest will run July 8 to July 15.  Tickets: $30

Drag Queen Story Hour @ Vroman’s on Sunday, July 9, 3:00 pm

Drag Queen Story Hour is a storytime event for children of all ages! Los Angeles’ most glittering, magical drag queens read quirky and progressive children’s books, followed by a simple craft. Featuring Valora von Tease and hosted by Michelle Tea.  Free event.

Summer Jazz Concert Series @ Playhouse District on Sunday, July 9, 5:00 pm

The Playhouse District Association presents the 14th annual free Summer Jazz Concert Series happening every Sunday beginning July 9 until August 27. The concerts take place on the Vroman’s Courtyard Stage located directly behind Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena. This week’s musical act will be the Elliott Caine Quintet.  Free event.
